Hi, I'm Ken and I live with my wife Lorraine in a small Spanish village on the edge of the Els Ports National Park, Catalunya.
I have been involved in teaching and training throughout my career, first as a Primary school teacher and later as a personnel trainer for a large insurance company in the UK.
I moved to Spain when I was 52 and began to teach English as a foreign language to the children of friends and neighbours. I then completed my CELTA certificate and I now work for a small language school. In 2008 I spent 8 months in Vietnam, teaching English to students at the University of Hanoi (an amazing experience!!).
The village we live in is small but friendly with many tourist attractions all around ranging from horse trekking in the hills to museums and art galleries. Barcerlona is just two hours by train (very cheap and comfortable) and the Costa Daurada is 40 minutes by car.

THE SOCIAL PROGRAMME
Outdoor pursuits are very popular in this area with biking, walking, climbing and fishing all available within a few kilometres.
A day visit to Barcelona by train or car can be organised.
There are a number of beauty spots to visit including Fontcalda which is a river flowing through a deep gorge, where swimming and picnicking are favourite pastimes.
Nearby there are historics sites, monuments and museums on the theme of the Spanish Civil War.
The Picasso Museum in Horta St Joan is also very popular.
The picturesque coastal town of Peniscola with its medieval town and castle are also within easy reach/
We are happy to organise and accompany our students on any of these social outings.
CYCLINGon the Via Verde (the old railway line from Alcaniz to Tortosa)
SWIMMING in the river at Fontcalda
ROCKCLIMBING in Els Ports
HORSETREKKING in Els Ports.
FISHINGin the River Ebro ( renowned for its giant catfish) is another option.
GOLFis available but is expensive and needs to be booked well in advance.
My wife and I enjoy all types of food and dishes from around the world, but typically the meals would include traditional English food, Italian, Chinese and Indian cuisine. (We are very flexible regarding prepaing and cooking meals)

Although the village is small there is a large outdoor swimming pool, floodlit sports arena, bar, restaurant and shop.In the nearby village of Horta St Joan there are is a larger choice of bars and restaurants, plus cycle hire and tours, an art gallery specialising in the early works of Picasso and a couple of supermarkets.
It is an ideal place to relax, enjoy the peace and tranqulity and of course study!!

The first floor consists of the guest room (double), bathroom and the study/library area. On the third floor is the kitchen and lounge and the top floor is our bedroom.
The students's room (guest room) is next to the bathroom and has a double bed, wardrobe, bedside table and light.
